Defining art history as her genetic raw material and with a great passion for Surrealism and Collage art, Loreen Hinz always tries to push the boundaries between photography and painting art with her visually-rich, often painterly pictures.
Since she was a little child she painted and drew 24/7, her room was stuffed with pencils, brushes and paper. Her parents insisted on her plan of studying something more profitable than art, so she studied economics first. After working as sales and event manager in a renowned hotel for several years, Loreen decided to not work in this field any longer and studied communication design to finally become an illustrator. During her 2nd term she had to attend the mandatory seminar of analogue photography – and she gave up her plan of becoming an illustrator. Finally she found a media to explore new ways of expressing her creativity and did her diploma in experimental photography.
The following years she spent working as a fashion photographer until 2020 when Corona virus brought the photo production world to stagnation. This period pushed Loreen to search for other ways of bringing the images in her head to life and so she started with still life photography – and out of this forced solution she finally found her real passion and artistic satisfaction.
Today many of her work she directs and styles herself, always with the ambition to create something unexpected – and unseen. Telling stories with an object as main protagonist is the hidden goal behind her work. Especially her sensitivity for experimental point of views and her ability to think outside the box make her wellbalanced compositions outstanding in the field of still life photography.
